London Underground Map Myths
The diagrammatic London Underground map was originated by Harry Beck
The diagrammatic London Underground map was not originated by Harry Beck, his name was Henry Beck. Harry is a friendly affectation, and as I have never met him, I feel that it would be jumping the gun somewhat to declare our mutual friendship in this way. On the other hand, TfL have now decided that they are friends of Henry Beck, crediting "Harry Beck" on the current London Underground map, and in all other material concerning him. People familiar with the relationship between London Transport and Henry Beck may wonder whether, with friends like this, who were his enemies.
